- On Russia's Kola Peninsula near Norway, geologists have been drilling a well since 1970. Now at 40,000 feet deep.
- Next deepest well is Bertha Rogers in Oklahoma, a gas well which the drilling stopped at 32,000 feet.
- The Kola well is being dug to study Earth's crust.They have dug abot 2.7 million rocks.
- When they were digging they didn't expect to find water under the earth's crust.
- The drill that they are using costs almost 3 billion dollars.
