India - Navo


  • It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west.
  • India became an independent nation on August 15th, 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by non-violent resistance led by Mahatma Gandhi.
  • The Indian economy is the world's tenth-largest by nominal GDP and third-largest by purchasing power parity.
  • The name India is derived from Indus, which originates from the Old Persian word Hinduš. The latter term stems from the Sanskrit word Sindhu, which was the historical local appellation for the Indus River.
  • India is the world's most populous democracy. A parliamentary republic with a multi-party system, it has six recognised national parties, including the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and more than 40 regional parties.
  • India is a federation composed of 29 states and 7 union territories.
  • The motto of India is : “Satyameva Jayate” in Sanskrit which means “Truth alone Triumphs”.
  • The National Anthem is "Jana Gana Mana” composed and scored by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
  • "Vande Mataram" is the National song - which means "I praise thee, Mother" - is a poem from Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's 1882 novel Anandamath.  
  • The Capital of India is Delhi with Mumbai being the largest city. Official languages are Hindi and English.
  • India is very rich in Culture, Traditions, temples, gods and scenic landscapes. India is famous for its spices, the Kashmir region, grand weddings, festivals, dances, Indian cuisine, Bollywood and the Taj Mahal.
